PANDEMIC PETS

WINNERS OF WEEK 10

Hello Pawrents,

Welcome to Pandemic Pets Week 10 ! We had some brilliant entries this week, you all really pushed the boat out. To be honest this was the closest compawtition for judging to date, so thank you for all those entries and we hope to keep the entries coming into us for week 11. A big thank you to all that have entered and PLEASE remember that if your pet has entered this week but has not yet been featured, it does not mean that you will not be a winner next week, we were so inundated with amazing entries and unfortunately I only have so many prizes each week. So don't give up. I can't believe we are into our eleventh week next week!  Get your stories and photos ready and send them in to us. This week we are going to add in another special category to replace the very popular "Staycation Stories". Our new category is called "KEEPING US TOGETHER ", this means we would love to see a photo of either you and your pet keeping it together or your pets keeping it together.

NOW onto this week's prizes ........ We have prizes for Best Pandemic Pet (non cat/dog), Best Pandemic Pooch, 2 Pandemic Pooch Runners Up, Best Covid Cat and Best Staycation photo and story! We also have Stephen from The Pet Parlour with his two hampers that he sponsors each week!  So if you have won a prize this week Stephen from the Pet Parlour will be in contact with the winners by Tuesday the 28th of July about sending you the vouchers or about the collection of your spot prizes. Then Miriam, our wonderful vet, is going to give us great tips about staycations with our pets, so please click on the link and have a look at her advice for this week.

Thank you again for all YOUR entries and I think we should give another big round of applawse to Dublin City Council for having us again and also to Sandymount Pet Hospital for their support and great advice AND not forgetting The Pet Parlour for all their sponsorship.

Now on to the winners of Week 10.

The winners of week 10 who are collecting their prizes from Stephen in The Pet Parlour are:

BEST PANDEMIC STAYCATION
Sandra Phelan with Star and Harvey:  The Pet Parlour €50 Voucher

Sandra shared "I would like to enter my two rescue dogs Star a boxer who is 13 and  her little brother Harvey the maltipoo in your STAYCATION competition. I adore both of them. Due to an underlying health condition, I have been isolated since March.  Only venturing out for a walk with these two at quieter times.  If it wasn't for them I honestly don't know where I would be... they have helped me through the loneliness (as I live on my own) and put a smile on my face when I'm feeling sick, they are my reason to get up in the morning, truth be known they rescued me as much as I rescued them. Star has been with me since she was 6 months old. I rescued her from a Kildare animal foundation. Star is now 13, she had cancer last year and had a big operation to remove the tumour. Our fantastic vets at cottage veterinary in newbridge look after her so well, and she is still doing great. She has been by my side during my own illness. Loving me and minding me during the bad days.  Star is very good with other dogs. I have fostered over the years and Star has been a mammy to many different breeds. She is so gentle and patient with them all.
Little Harvey, is 10 months old and has been with me since Christmas. I rescued him from Molly Moos in Limerick, he is a fantastic little fella. He has brought new life and energy into the house and loves his teddy bear and all toys. Both Star and  Harvey adore each other. Unfortunately due to my  health I can not take them on a holiday in Ireland this year, so we are really having a staycation this year in the house altogether.  I hope you enjoy the pictures of them looking at me gardening, looking at me cleaning the house (after them!) and more pictures of them looking at life. They both enjoy the t.v. but Harvey always has the remote control.

Thank you for reading my entry, we had great fun taking the pictures.

Warm regards

Sandra Phelan, Star and Harvey.
