PANDEMIC PETS

WINNERS OF WEEK 12

Hello Pawrents,

Welcome to Pandemic Pets Week 12! We are still going strong with lots of dog entries coming into us so thank you for that, but where are all my Covid Cat entries?  We did not receive any feline entries this week so come on feline pawrents and show us your beautiful cats. A big thank you to all that have entered and please remember that if your pet has entered and has not yet been featured, it does not mean that you will not be featured, unfortunately I only have so many prizes each week. So don't give up, we are now going into our thirteenth week! Really thirteen weeks since we started, where is the time going ? The time is flying by so get your stories and photos ready for week 13 and send them in to us. This week we have a lovely update on a previous winner Mollie The Collie and her Mum who volunteered to work on the "Songs From an Empty Room Concert" in the Olympia...which so far has raised over €400,000 for two amazing charities supporting backstage crew and arts workers - Minding Creative Minds and the AIST. Mollie and her Mum helped backstage and gave their time for free to help the cause and raise funds for the two charities, so thank you Mollie and your Mum. We also have a great Pandemic Pet winner so I hope you enjoy them as much as we did judging them this week..

NOW on to this week's prizes that we have for you, we have prizes for Best Pandemic Pooch and 2 Pandemic Pooch Runner Ups, Best Pandemic Pet We also have Stephen from The Pet Parlour with his two Pet Hampers that he sponsors each week.  So if you have won a prize this week Stephen from The Pet Parlour will be in contact by Tuesday the 11th of August about sending you the vouchers or about collecting your spot prizes.

Thank you again for all YOUR entries and also I think we should give another big round of applawse to Dublin City Council for having us featured again and also to Sandymount Pet Hospital for their support and great advice AND not forgetting The Pet Parlour for all their sponsorship.

Now on to the winners of Week 12.

Edel Swords

The winners of Week 12 who are collecting their prizes from Stephen in The Pet Parlour are:

BEST PANDEMIC PET
Luke Kinsella with his sea haul:  The Pet Parlour €50 Voucher

Luke shared "My name is Luke Kinsella and I am 10, I live in Irishtown in Dublin but I am on holidays in Wexford with my nanny Jackie. I don't have any of my pets with me cause they are at home. But we went crab fishing and I caught loads of them, it was great fun. Then after you catch them, you put them back in the sea. Nanny caught 48! My Dad couldn't believe it when I rang him and told him. We even got 99's from the ice cream van afterwards. My Dad told me that Nanny used to take him to the same place when he was my age but they didn't have ice cream van's down there when he was young!

If I was to win a voucher I would buy bird seed for the wild birds near where we are staying and watch the birds.

BEST PANDEMIC POOCH

Esme Rennie with Atlas: The Pet Parlour €50 Voucher

Esme shared "Atlas is a 4y.o male whippet who is one of the most popular insta-dogs in Ireland (you can follow us on @exploretheatlas on Instagram). As his name suggests he has traveled and explored 9 countries on 2 different continents. During the Covid-19 pandemic Atlas the whippet became an absolute superstar running by the longboard! As a whippet the 2km radius was very difficult, he needs a proper run every few days which is usually beach zoomies. So, I made a gamble and purchased a longboard so we could exercise together around the neighbourhood & it paid off! On our other days we worked on training "heel" & his toy-drive."

BEST PANDEMIC POOCH RUNNER UPS

Jessica Blake with Mac:  The Pet Parlour €25 Voucher

Jessica shared "This is Mac or as we like to call him at home Machiavelli! Mac is a pointer and is 7 years old which is the same age as my daughter Zara. Mac and Zara are like double trouble, every were they go the other is never far away. My partner was out doing the shopping for me as I was due to have Zara that week when he bumped into his friend who told him about a little of pups in a neighbours house. Anyway a long story, I didn't get any shopping but I did get a beautiful pup who is now living his best life with us. Even though I wasn't 100 % convinced I wanted at dog especially at that time in my life, I really wouldn't change a thing. It was meant to be!"

2. Pat Cunningham with Gia: The Pet Parlour €25 Voucher

Pat shared "Gia came to us from the Dogs Trust 14 months ago as a puppy.  We had very set ideas about how we were going to train our new puppy!  Only sleeping downstairs in her own bed, would not be allowed on the sofa etc... the usual rules you decide to have with a new pet. Now Gia goes up to our bed every evening at 8.30pm on the dot just to make sure she can claim her spot and as you can see from the photo's she has her own chair by the window so she can watch the world going by. I am a big Dublin football fan and have been missing all my trips to Croke park this summer to see my team play, I have tried to pass on my love of GAA to Gia but as you can see she is not too impressed. Gia is the sweetest, most easy going dog ever and has brought us great joy, comfort and friendship during the pandemic.  Her favourite pastime is running on the beach with her pals, playing fetch and having long naps on her chair.   "

THE PET PARLOUR HAMPER WINNERS - Sponsored by The Pet  Parlour

Richie O'Sullivan with Charlie

Richie shared "I'd like to enter the attached photo for the week 11 pet photo competition. It is one of our 7 month old lurcher Charlie who we got as a small puppy 3 weeks before lockdown started. It's been lovely watching him grow over the last few months and great that we can go further afield for our walks. He's a very curious puppy and loves sitting for a photo when he isn't zooming around the garden!"

2. Lisa Mahony with Mollie.

Lisa shared "Well Mollie had a busy week last week and I got a couple of good snaps of her so thought I'd send them in and try our luck once more! I volunteered to work on the "Songs From an Empty Room Concert" in the Olympia... which so far has raised over €400,000 for 2 amazing charities supporting backstage crew and arts workers - Minding Creative Minds and the AIST. Anyway Moll had the craic and got lots of attention."

Please contact Stephen in the Pet Parlour to collect your hamper as he will have your details.
