2. Meredith Ritter with Kali:  The Pet Parlour €20 Voucher
Meredith shared "I am sending on photos of my 18 week old Miniature Pinscher puppy, Kali. She's hilariously funny and so confident! Loves everyone and just wants to play with the other canines she meets. Kids are fun, too. We're loving our time with her and she's adding a bit of extra life into the day to day.

Siobhan Scarlett with Tali.: The Pet Parlour €50 Voucher
Siobhan shared "This is Tali. The best colleague to have during a pandemic. She spends her day alternating between sleeping on my lap, in front of my monitor, or suddenly becoming very active and social during a video call. Tali had a tough start to life after being abandoned on the side of the road as a kitten. Luckily she was found and cared for by a Vet. We adopted her through the lovely Cats Aid organisation. Two years ago we discovered she was born with just one kidney, but she doesn't let that stop her from living her best life. She loves chasing nerf darts around the house, trying to fit in boxes too small for her, headbutting me and purring loudly when she finally finds a warm lap to sleep on in the evening time."

Stephanie Behan with Scooby: The Pet Parlour €20 Voucher

Stephanie shared "Scooby is two years old.  He is the King of our house and we all love him so much. He loves to play and follows us around when we go outside. He climbs trees, is a great hunter and he likes to nap anywhere he can find a spot. He is always hungry and his favourite food is turkey. He is the best pet ever because he is so fun and playful and he loves rubs and cuddles (when he wants them).
From Cillian, Noah and Kyle Behan"

Best Pandemic Pet(s) is Tom Haughey with Bruno (Dog), Smaug (Gecko), Manky (Robin): The Pet Parlour €50 Voucher

"Hello, My Name is Tom Haughey, I am 16 years old I would like to enter three of my pets for the 'Pandemic Pet' competition.
Bruno is a a five year old Bernese mountain dog and my mother got him for me when I was in first year, I had struggled a lot with bullying and my family thought it would be helpful for me to have a companion, like many children the connection was near instant, we did everything together from swimming to eating.

I also have Smaug, I found Smaug, a leopard gecko, on adverts when I was in fifth class and  argued with my mother for hours on end with promises of patience and responsibility in taking care of her, and she's still alive thus far, so I can mostly say I was telling the truth.

Last entry, I have 'manky'. Whilst on a walk last week along a busy road I found a small robin, it appeared to be very shaken and wasn't making attempts to fly away, out of fear that it may get killed by oncoming traffic I picked her up and decided to bring her home, at which point she defecated all over my hoodie (thus achieving the title 'manky'). I brought her home and by the end of the day she was confident enough to make feeble attempts at flight, we are still working on her flight skills but hope that soon she will fly the coop (pun intended)."

It's just Dougle and I in my house and he never leaves me... We didn't know many people in our estate and now we know loads, Dougle even made a new best Friend chewy.... He is amazing with older people and children and can bring a smile to anyone's face... This week I wasn't feeling great and he stayed by me the whole time... "

3. Dog category -  Amy Moore with Chewy

Amy shared "This is “Chewy” our Russian toy terrier. Since the pandemic has happened, Chewy has met his new pal “Doogle”. Every time we walk him he’ll make his way to Doogle's house and cry outside the door waiting for his pal to appear.  He brings so much joy to our lives and to be able to spend so much time with him has been the best."

Zac Comerford with his picture of his Dog Caol

"Our dog Caol is 8 years old and has been part of our family for 6 years. When we first met him in the DSPCA we fell in love with him, he is such a loving dog with a really gentle temperament. He is a whippet so naturally of very thin build  so we thought Caol which means slender in Irish was a very fitting name for him.

We were nervous when Zac was born as to how they would be together but they are best friends. Ever since Zac was a tiny baby Caol slept under his Moses basket, he is always there to protect him."
