WINNERS OF WEEK5
I hope this finds everyone well including our fur friends and that they are adjusting to our new normal way of living without too much difficulty. It was a fun week to judge this week again in our compawtition, as we had many different entries to look at, some to celebrate Bloomsday this year also some to remember Bloomsday last year at The Rathmines Fair In The Square where some of the ladies and dogs dressed up for us! We also received a lovely entry from a young girl who wanted to celebrate her Dad on Father's Day from her rescue dog. So I want to say a big thank you for your efforts and keep them coming in for next week, which will be our sixth week. I can't believe we are six weeks in!
NOW on to this week's prizes that we have for you, prizes for Best Pandemic Pooch and 2 Pandemic Pooch Runners Up, Best Covid Cat and Best Covid Cat Runner up, Best Bloomsday Dog, Best Letter To The Judges. BEST PANDEMIC POOCH
Hilary Hughes with Alfie: The Pet Parlour €50 Voucher
Hilary shared "‘Alfie’ Hughes age 14 and a half years young. Loves football and chewy toys and a lot of sleep. Also now that Alfie has retired from the school run and all the college friends calling to his door for his human siblings he is happy in retirement with his Mum Hilary. Mr Alfie loves nothing more than a bit of down time. This Pandemic was made for Alfie, the only thing he was missing was watching the football training in the local Park."
BEST PANDEMIC POOCH RUNNER UPS
1. Phoebe Slevin with Ali : The Pet Parlour €20 Voucher
Phoebe shared "This is our boxer Ali, she is 4 years old but still acts like an excitable puppy. She is a very goofy and loveable dog and is super affectionate. She has been my best pal during lockdown, when we are at home she follows me around and wants to be involved in everything I do. She even gets straight on to my yoga mat every time I take it out. She also loves going for walks and wading in the Dodder river. But her favourite pastime is gathering all the cushions on the sofa and making herself a comfy bed to nap in."
2. Lisa Mahony with Moll: The Pet Parlour €20 Voucher
Lisa shared "Since it was Bloomsday and her name is Mollie I decided to pose her with Ulysses. Her real interests are fetching balls, belly rubs and joining me on my stand up paddle board. Moll is a rescue from Dogs trust. We got her 3 years ago when she was 2 years old. She was actually born in Dogs trust, adopted as a pup and then returned. We're not sure why..she's very energetic and sheds a lot but we love her to bits. "
BEST COVID CAT
Una Leavy with her 3 cats: The Pet Parlour €50 Voucher
Una shared "When I saw this competition I thought it was a great idea. I love looking at the winners page on a Tuesday morning when I come in from my night shift, I am a midwife. I usually live at home with my husband and 3 cats until Covid hit us, now I have 5 out of my 6 children back in the nest. The kids are calling their arrivals home as bonding, I call it an extreme bonding. However my saving grace is indeed my fur friends. I mostly work nights so I arrive home in the mornings and the only ones up are the cats. They are always delighted to see me, they are never looking for their socks and other miscellaneous bits. The cats are keeping me sane and not driving me insane like my two legged children."
BEST COVID CAT RUNNER UP
Cathy Murray with Nina (cat) + Coco (dog): The Pet Parlour €20 Voucher
Cathy shared "Here are Nina( dog) & Coco (Cat) in full hectic pandemic mode."
BEST LETTER WRITTEN TO JUDGE
Best Letter to the Judge written by Amelia O'Doherty and Watson For Fathers Day winning a The Pet Parlour €25 Voucher.
"This is Watson he came into our lives two and a half years ago. We rescued him from the DSPCA when he was 10 weeks old he was one of the 99 puppies that went to Holyhead and back on a boat. My dad never wanted a dog but the second he laid eyes on Watson he fell in love and now they are inseparable. We call Watson the fomo dog because he has a fear of missing out on things and has terrible separation anxiety. His favourite pastime is lying on the table in the sun or sleeping on my parents bed. Watson would love to wish his human dad (Niall) a happy Father’s Day and to thank him for rescuing him."
THE PET PARLOUR HAMPER WINNERS - Sponsored by The Pet Parlour
1. Darko Skrobo with Coco.
Darko shared "This is Coco. A little 10 week old Shichon (crossbreed between a Shihtzu and a Bischon Frise). Coco came into our lives a week ago and has stolen the hearts of anyone who has met her. She's a little ball of energy, fluff, cuteness and according to her daddies a bit of a poser. Coco has just received her 2nd injection and is now gearing up to go for walksies and explore more of the world beyond the backgarden."
2. Tara McDonald with Jack and Juno.
